🧰 ⚒️ Let’s Talk About Climate Talking Guide (and pocket version)
🗓️ Launch: October 2022
🔄 Last updated: November 2022 (QR code updated)
The Let’s Talk About Climate Talking Guide is the first-ever tool ⚒️ to be added to our toolkit of climate resources 🧰, and we’re proud to announce that it’s downloadable and ready for you to use!
Our team presented the talking guide to our Climatebase Fellowship (cohort 2) in October 2022. At this stage, the talking guide has only been shown to a small group of people outside of Climatebase. Now that we’ve released it to the world, it’s safe to say that additional improvements will be made as feedback is collected and reviewed. For this reason, I’ve included the month/year of the last update above.
Updates and new tools will be announced, so don’t forget to subscribe to stay in the know!
Want to provide feedback? We’re all ears! Look out for the corn ear emoji 🌽 at the bottom of this newsletter for a link to share your feedback.
What is it?
⭐ This talking guide was created to help you engage in meaningful dialogue about climate change through personal stories and shared aspirations, encouraging collective action.
7 in 10 Americans believe climate change is happening, and 6 in 10 are worried about it. Yet more than half of Americans rarely—if ever—talk about climate change with their friends and families. Why? We hear all too commonly,
It upsets me, and I don’t want to talk about it 😢.
I’m not a scientist👩🔬. I don’t know enough to be talking about climate change.
I’m afraid I’ll agitate someone else by bringing it up 😟.
These are the most common barriers stopping people from discussing climate change. Imagine how significant our collective impact would be if we could help people overcome those barriers.
Climate change impacts everyone differently, but by facilitating deep connections and sharing stories and aspirations for the future, we might find that we share more commonalities than differences.
Who is this for?
Do you care about climate change and have difficulty bringing it up in conversations?
Do you want to take steps toward climate action but don’t know how to engage in dialogue?
Do you find that you only talk about climate change with certain people and not others?
Do you want to be a change agent and positively impact the world?
👉 If you said ‘Yes’ to any of the above questions, this talking guide is for you!
How can this benefit you?
Healing; helps you cope with negative feelings related to climate change.
